Disconnect to reconnect: A call to fasting from social networks.

Hello, hello..!!!!

Today I want to make a wake-up call to disconnect from social networks.

In today's hyper-connected world, where social networks have become an extension of ourselves, the idea that we take a break from them, this may seem like a bit of a far fetched idea, as we watch news, cook recipes, communicate with family and friends, and so on.

However, more and more people are opting for a social media fast, an intentional break

to detoxify from dopamine and rebalance their mental well-being.

I want to assure you that you are not alone in this, fasting from social networks is not

about demonizing them or eliminating them from our lives forever. It's about taking

control, being aware of the time we spend on them and the impact they have on our

well-being. It is an invitation to reconnect with ourselves, with our loved ones and with

the world around us.

Social media is a window into the lives of others, social comparison has become a

silent epidemic. We are constantly exposed to carefully selected images of happy

moments, professional achievements and perfect bodies, creating a false reality that

distorts our own perception.

This constant comparison feeds stress and anxiety, as we feel pressured to reach a

standard of living that, in most cases, is not real. Uncertainty about the veracity of the

information we consume, mixed with the lack of authenticity of some profiles,

generates distrust and frustration

It's like being in a never-ending race, where the finish line always seems to be a little further away.

This cycle of comparison and dissatisfaction can have a negative impact on our self-

esteem, our mental health and our relationships. Therefore, it is time to break this

vicious cycle.

Fasting from social media offers us an opportunity to detoxify ourselves from this toxic

content and rebuild a healthier relationship with ourselves and the world around us.

Imagine waking up without the immediate need to check your phone, enjoying a meal

without the distraction of notifications, feeling the presence of the people around you

without the competition of screens, discovering new hobbies and interests that don't require a “like”, and sleeping better and reducing stress levels.

Fasting from social media can be a transformative experience, a space to rethink our

relationship with technology and establish healthy boundaries. I'll give you five practical tips to help you reconnect from social networks.

1.Set clear goals: Before you start your social media fast, define what you hope to

achieve with this break: Are you looking to reduce stress, improve the quality of your

sleep, or simply have more time for yourself and your loved ones? Having a clear goal

will help you maintain focus and motivation during fasting.

2. Inform your contacts: To avoid misunderstandings, it's a good idea to inform friends

and family that you will be taking a break from social networks. This way, they will know

that you are not ignoring their messages and they can find you by other means if

necessary.

3.Turn off notifications: One of the most effective ways to reduce the temptation to

constantly check social media is to turn off notifications. Without constant alerts for new

messages or interactions, it will be easier to resist the urge to check your phone.

4.Set time limits: If you can't or don't want to give up social media completely, try to set

specific limits for its use. For example, you could decide to only check your networks for

30 minutes at the end of the day, or only on weekends, and if you work with social

networks like me, focus on work during working hours, don't browse accounts that don't

contribute anything to you.

5.Find alternative activities: Replace the time you would normally spend on social

media with activities that you find enriching and relaxing. This could include reading,

practicing a hobby, exercising, or simply spending more time in person with friends and

family, this will really nourish your soul.

Remember that it is an invitation to reconnect with ourselves, with our loved ones and

with the world around us.

Imagine for a moment:

- Waking up without the immediate need to check your phone.

- Enjoying a meal without the distraction of notifications.

- Feeling the presence of the people around you without the competition of screens.

- Discover new hobbies and interests that don't require a “like”.

- Sleeping better and reducing stress levels.

Fasting from social networks can be a transformative experience. A space to rethink our

relationship with technology and establish healthy boundaries. Enjoy the process, listen

to your body and celebrate each small accomplishment. Together we can create a

healthier and more conscious relationship with technology, one that allows us to be

present in the here and now, connected to what really matters.

Encourage yourself to take an hour, a day, a weekend to disconnect from social

networks, this will help you gain health. Remember to always decide for your health.

Bye, Bye.
